Uber- today this name needs no introduction. It was a small startup and now it has been expanded its vistas beyond India. Uber was founded in 2009 as UberCab by Garrett Camp, the co-founder of StumbleUpon
Coming to the functionality of Uber it basically works on App interface. The rider is required to download the App to avail the services. The main reason behind setting up of a service like Uber is to eliminate conventional Taxi drivers existing initially before Uber commencement. Uber doesn’t own cabs but works on a contract basis, giving users a safe ride at low costs possible.
The App is required to be downloaded and card/debit card details are required too. To book a ride phone GPS is used to track the location of pick-up point. Then Uber conforms total time required to wait. Uber also shows details of the driver viz. photo, type of car etc.
Uber offers a range of service levels on basis of desirability. To name a few are UberX, UberPOOL, UberXL, user select, UberBLACK. These are starting from cheaper rides to most luxurious rides. Executive level services are offered by UberBLACK. user select comes with luxury sedans. The remaining classes differ on the basis of a number of riders and type of vehicles etc.
It is a truth that Uber offers a superior quality of rides compared to competitors. The riders should rate the drivers on a scale of 5. In reverse even the driver rates his customers. The entire data is analyzed and safety norms and policies are strictly maintained by Uber. If the benchmark is not reached by either of the end-users they are temporarily or permanently prohibited.
